If entitled:
- Edit a mailing or legal address
- Add a seasonal address
- Edit a seasonal address
- Delete a seasonal address
An account can maintain separate mailing, legal, and seasonal addresses at the account level, in addition to mailing and legal addresses for each account holder.
When multiple holders are on the account, if entitled, you can enter changes to an account-level address and then choose whether to apply the same changes to other addresses for the account or account holders. Note that this feature does not apply to seasonal addresses or trusted contact addresses.
Address standardization
Address standardization obtains the most accurate address on record from the United States Postal Service (USPS). Standardized addresses are eligible for reduced postage rates.
The address standardization process reviews each address change and recommends a standardized address as defined by the USPS; for example, if you enter an address with the word Street, the address standardization process recommends that you change it to ST. The standardization process also adds the plus 4 digits to the zip code.
The process standardizes the following domestic, military, and U.S. territory addresses:
- Account mailing
- Account legal
- Account seasonal
- Account holder mailing
- Account holder legal
- Trusted contact legal
The process does not standardize:
- DVP/RVP addresses
- International addresses
- Addresses for authorized traders, interested parties, or beneficiaries
Note: The address standardization process attempts to concatenate the lines of an address onto 1 line; for example, the street and apartment. If the length of the concatenated lines exceeds 30 characters, the address is not standardized.
On the Edit Address window, enter changes on the left side of the window. When applicable, the right side lists each account holder and checkboxes that enable you to select where to apply the changes.
In the section with the address, select Edit.
Below the Legal Address or Mailing Address label, select Edit Address.
Note: If an address does not already exit, Edit Address does not display.
On the left side of the window, enter changes in the address fields.
To apply changes to all addresses, on the right side, choose Select All. To apply changes selectively to other addresses, choose each Legal Address or Mailing Address checkbox that applies.
Select Save & Continue Editing.
If address standardization recommends changes, the Standardized Address window opens. The standardized portions of the address are highlighted.
If the only change needed to standardize the address is to add the plus 4 digits to the zip code, you are not prompted to accept changes. Standardization automatically adds the plus 4 digits to the zip code and Standardized Address does not open.
If address standardization does not recognize the address, no recommendation is made. If entitled, you are prompted to save and continue with the entered address.
To accept the standardized address, select Standardized Address. To reject the standardized address, select Original Address.
Note: If not entitled to select the original address, you must accept the standardized address or return to the Edit Address.
Select Save & Continue Editing.
Back on Account Profile, select Save.
If entitled, add a seasonal address and a date range to deliver mail to that address. Outside of that date range, mail is delivered to the non-seasonal mailing address instead. An Active Now label displays next to the address that is currently active.
Mail will start or stop being sent to the seasonal address on the first business day that follows the specified start or end date, respectively. For start or end dates that fall on a weekend or U.S. holiday, mailing changes occur on the day after the next business day. Since mail can take a few days to arrive, consider entering start and end dates that are a few days before the first and last dates spent at the seasonal address.
Note: Residing at a seasonal address for more than 180 days in a calendar year may have tax implications. Check applicable state tax laws for additional information.
In the Account Setup section, select Edit.
Below the Seasonal Address label, select Add Address.
Enter the start and end dates for mail delivery in MM-DD-YYYY format or use the calendar. To leave the dates unspecified, clear the Set a date range for mail delivery checkbox.
Note: If you do not specify a date range, the seasonal address remains inactive until you do.
Enter the seasonal address in the address fields.
Select Save & Continue Editing.
