For fixed income securities
The earliest effective date available on which the security matures; the principal is redeemed along with any remaining interest payments. For insurance and annuities, The date the contract matures, as provided by a third party. If an event is affecting the Maturity Date, an indicator represents the type of Maturity Date that displays. When no indicator displays, the date is the original Maturity Date.

  • F (Fully Called)
    The issuer redeemed all outstanding bonds earlier than the Maturity Date. On the call date, the principal is returned to the holder based on the call price.
  • M (Mandatory Put)
    With a put option, the bond holder has the right to sell (or put back) all or a portion of the bonds to the issuer at a specific price for a certain period. With a mandatory put, the issuer requires the bond holder to sell the bonds back at a specified price on a specific date.
  • P (Pre-Refunded Bonds)
    A municipal bond is secured by an escrow fund. The escrow fund comes from the issuer floating a second bond issue and using proceeds from that second bond issue to purchase government obligations, typically treasuries. Proceeds from the second bond issue create an escrow fund to mature at the first call date of the first bond issue to pre-refund that issue. Bond issuers typically do this during times of lower interest rates to lower their interest costs.
