Overview

Data Dictionary provides a list of all data elements available to use as criteria or columns in a Wealthscape report. Access the definition for a data element on the Data Dictionary window, which is a separate window from the Reports window. Furthermore, you can view which reports already contain the data element as a criterion and/or a column, and then generate a report directly from the results.

The definitions in Data Dictionary are business oriented and not intended to be technical specifications.

Search for Data Elements

By default, data elements list in ascending order by name. Sort the list by selecting another column header.

To search for a data element

1. At the top of the Reports window, select the Data Dictionary icon.

2. Enter one or more characters in the Data Element field.

   Matching values that "begin with" or "contain" your value display. The more characters you enter, the more focused the results become.

   - Enter letters, numbers, special characters, and spaces.
   - The search is not case sensitive.

3. To redisplay all data elements, in the Data Element field, select x.

Filter Data Elements

Filter the list of data elements using features found in the column headers. This is the same filtering feature available on the Reports window.

To filter data elements

1. Hover over the right portion of a column header.

   - A menu icon displays.

2. Select the menu icon to display filter criteria for the column.

   - By default, all filters are selected.

3. Choose your filter criteria:

   - Clear each check box you don't want or clear Select All.
   - Select each check box you do want.
   - The list adjusts to display matching results.
   - A funnel in the header shows filtering is applied.

To clear a filter

1. In the column header with the funnel, select the menu icon.

2. Select Clear Filter.

   - This resets filters so that no filters are applied.

View Data Definitions

You may also view the definition of a data element when editing a report. (Edit a Report)

To view a data definition

In the Data Element column, double-click a link.

A definition can include, where applicable:

- Category
- Subject Area
- Theme
- Group
- Criteria (Eligibility)
- Column (Eligibility)

View Reports that Contain the Element

Select a data element to view the reports in which it appears as a criterion or a column. The reports that list here include only those reports to which you are entitled.

To view reports that contain the element

1. In the Data Element column, double-click a link.

2. On the Data Dictionary window that displays, select the Reports tab.

   If the list of reports is long:

   - Filter the list using the Report Name box.
   - Enter the report name, at least one character.

3. To run a listed report, in the Report Name column, double-click the link.

Field Definitions

Field	Definition
Data Element	The name of the data element that uniquely identifies it in Wealthscape. Double-click a name to view information about the data element.
Category	The category for the data element. Within a category, a data element is further assigned to a Subject Area.
Subject Area / Theme	The Subject Area for the data element. This data element can be selected as a criterion or column in a report for the Category and Subject Area / Theme to which the data element is assigned. A theme is a subset of a subject area.
Criteria	An X indicates that the data element can be selected as criterion in a report. If an X does not display, the data element cannot be selected.
Column	An X indicates that the data element can be selected as a column in a report. If an X does not display, the data element cannot be selected.
