A Restrictions icon displays on the Account Cartridge when there are Fidelity-imposed or user-defined restrictions on the current account. Restrictions placed on an account limit or prevent certain activity based on a set of rules or criteria. Restrictions alert you to account conditions, which may impact your ability to process certain transactions. Restrictions include:
Hard restriction
These restrictions block a transaction or activity from taking place.
System-generated, message-only restriction
These restrictions do not block a transaction or activity; instead, when such a restriction exists, the system alerts you to a process or product associated with the account.
Other user-defined or custom restrictions such as "Don't Buy EMC" or "Don't Trade AAPL" are created by your firm. (Create a Trade Restriction)
To view restrictions
On the Icons tab, select the Restrictions icon, where available.
- Restrictions display in Input Date order. (Field Definitions)
A Suitability icon displays only for Fidelity IDA (Individual Directed Account) brokerage accounts. Although these accounts list an adviser, the adviser is prohibited from placing trades for the account.
Per FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Inc.) Regulatory Notice 11-02, the security or securities transaction or investment strategy recommended to a customer should match the customer's investment profile. Suitability refers to the characteristics of this portfolio plan or profile, which is established through the analysis of discussions with the primary account holder.
To view suitability
On the Icons tab, select the Suitability icon, where available.
- Suitability opens in a separate window. (Field Definitions)
