All Groups

Overview

Using groups enables you to manage smaller, related subsets of your accounts, so you can handle any associated workflows more efficiently. For example, you can create a group based on an investment objective, such as growth. Then, you can see all of your accounts with this similar characteristic. An account or a client can be a member of one or more groups. Groups can be multi-custodial, meaning they can contain accounts held at Fidelity, as well as accounts held away. Groups are similar to clients in that they are a means of relating accounts to each other. However, they differ in that clients are targeted for individual relationships, whereas groups are targeted for broader analysis.

Fidelity WealthCentral provides the following default groups, which are presented first in the Groups List; you cannot rename, edit, or delete these groups:

NOTE:

You also can use groups to limit an end user's access to accounts. These Access Groups are assigned to users to limit their account entitlements at a level finer than the G Number. A system manager or similar individual, who is entitled to do so, may assign each User ID to one, and only one, access group. This assignment is done by clicking Settings > Firm Preferences > User ID Maintenance > Assign/Modify Access Group. Once assigned, the user's account visibility is restricted to the accounts that meet the criteria of the access group.

Viewing All Groups

NOTE:

  1. Select Groups > All Groups. The All Groups screen displays. Notice the Criteria specifies All Groups. The list consists of the Fidelity WealthCentral default groups, groups created by you or other members of your firm, and groups imported from another portfolio management system. NOTE: You only can edit or delete your own groups, who are referred to as My Groups (Groups > My Groups).
  2. The Group Names column is listed in alphabetical order, but with the default groups (all capital letters) displaying first in the list. Click an entry in the list to display Tab-Based Group Information. You can view account information and enter orders exclusive to the members of the selected group. In addition, all subsequent actions you perform on the group are applied to all the accounts assigned to that group.
