Overview

If entitled, create a new model by copying the details of an existing model. This process supports these model types:

- Brokerage (Individual, Composite)
- Workplace Investing
- Asset Class

After you choose the model to copy, its details and elements populate the Create Model window where you can then edit the model. For example, you created a growth model and would now like to create an aggressive growth model. Although the majority of the securities will be the same in each model, some will differ. Use the copy feature to populate the window with the growth model details and model elements, and then modify the information as necessary.

Workplace Investing Models

A Workplace Investing (WI) model is used to rebalance 403(b)/401(k) accounts. When you copy this model type, if entitled, the new model must also be a WI model. Note, the WI model can only contain funds represented by the investment plans associated with the model, and which are rebalance-eligible within those plans.

Copy an Existing Model

The steps below start on the Create Brokerage Model window – but maybe you accessed the copy capability from elsewhere in PM&R. If you started on Model List or Fidelity Models where you already choose the model to copy, skip to step 3 below.

To copy an existing model

  1. Select Copy Existing Model.

  2. Search for the model. (Model Lookup)
  3. Enter the Model Name.

    - Amend the Description with the purpose of your new model, if necessary.

  4. Change other model details, as needed.

If you change Model Type from Individual to Composite:

    - Set Tolerance changes to % of Model (Dollar Amount is disabled).

If you change Model Type from Composite to Individual:

    - Select Convert to confirm the conversion.
    - Assigned sub-models are removed from the model.
    - Set Tolerance by Dollar Amount is enabled.

If you change Set Tolerance from % of Model to Dollar Amount (or vice versa), where applicable:

    - A warning displays.
    - Select Change Tolerance to Dollar Amount to continue.
    - Min and Max are removed from the Model Elements table.

  5. To save the model, select Save Model.
    or
To share the model, select Save & Share. (Share a Model)
