Account Positions (Previous Sales/Realized)

Overview

The Previous Sales/Realized screen displays the gain or loss from the sale of a security (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, options), which is the comparison between its current value and its original cost. This information is available for both retirement and non-retirement accounts. In addition to realized gains and losses, you can view all closed positions in the current account. From the list of closed positions, you can drill down to display the lots that made up a particular position and that are no longer held today.

For certain fixed income securities held in non-retirement accounts, cost basis is adjusted for Original Issue Discount (OID) and any market premium or market discount that applies. Market discount accrual is deferred until closure of the tax lot.

The fixed income securities eligible for adjusted cost basis include:

NOTE:

This section displays the gain or loss information for the month or all months of the year specified in the Select Year and Select Month drop-downs at the top of the screen. The list is sorted by Date Sold (latest to earliest). If there is more than one entry in the list, you can view gains and losses for a specific security. Filter the contents according to CUISP or Symbol using the Filter By drop-down and its associated text field. The list dynamically filters to include only those securities where the CUSIP or Symbol includes the characters that you enter. To refine the results further, enter additional characters in the search box. Select the Reset link to remove the filtering. Filtering is not implemented by default.
