DVP/RVP Trade Away Order Ticket


Overview

NOTE:

You use the DVP/RVP Trade Away Order Ticket to create account-level trades done away from Fidelity that settle in a standard DVP/RVP fashion. The trade is executed by an external broker, but settled by Fidelity.

Accessing the DVP/RVP Trade Away Order Ticket

  1. Select Trade > Order Entry > DVP/RVP Trade Away. The DVP/RVP Trade Away Order Ticket displays.
  2. From this screen you can create a DVP/RVP Trade Away Order.
  3. After creating an order, you can:
    • Reset the fields within the ticket to their default settings (ignoring any changes you made).
      OR
    • Send it to market and display it in the Sent Orders List.
      OR
    • Save it to the Unsent Orders List so you can send it at a later time.

Creating a DVP/RVP Trade Away Order

NOTE:


  1. Select Trade > Order Entry > DVP/RVP Trade Away to display the DVP/RVP Trade Away Order Ticket.
  2. If you do not have an account already in context, use the Account Search feature to locate the one you would like to choose for the order.
  3. The order ticket populates with the selected account information and the banner in the top portion of the ticket. NOTE: See Account Cartridge for additional details on this information.
  4. Select the order Action from the drop-down list; options are B-Buy or S-Sell.
  5. Specify the Quantity for the order.
  6. Specify the Symbol/CUSIP in the associated field. NOTE: If you are unsure of the information to enter, select the Magnifying Glass icon to locate the desired security.
  7. When the Symbol/CUSIP field is populated, a Quote link displays. Select this link to display a pop-up screen containing pricing information related to your selection.
  8. Enter the Price Per Share for the selected security in the associated text field. NOTE: This is a required field.
  9. Notice the Account Type is set to Cash and cannot be changed.
  10. Specify the Commission Type using the associated drop-down list; options are Flat Fee and No Commission.
  11. If you selected a Flat Fee Commission Type, enter the fee amount in the Commission text field. NOTE: This field does not display if you selected No Commission.
  12. If it is a fixed income security and there is interest associated with the trade, enter this value in the Interest Amount text field.
  13. Optionally, enter any Other Charges associated with the order in this text field. NOTE: These charges refer to those charged by the executing broker.
  14. Optionally, select to add a Client Confirm Note to the trade confirmation; options are Advisor Directed, Client Requested Trade, or Cross Trade.
  15. The Net Amount field is disabled; this amount is calculated by Fidelity.
  16. Enter the four digit DTC number for the executing broker in the associated text field.
  17. Specify the order's Trade Date in the respective field. You can enter the date manually or use the Calendar icon to assist you in completing the field.
  18. Specify the date you expect the trade to settle in the Settlement Date field. You can enter the date manually or use the Calendar icon to assist you in completing the field.
  19. Once all fields are completed, select one of the following:

    • Reset: Returns all ticket fields to their default settings, including any specified preferences.
    • Send Now: Sends the trade details to Fidelity and places it in the Sent Orders List. A confirmation pop-up screen displays notifying you that the order was sent to the market. NOTE: This button does not display if you do not have the appropriate entitlement.
    • Save: Saves the order to the Unsent Orders List. A confirmation screen displays.
  20. If you selected Save, the Order Confirmation screen displays. It contains a summary of the order on the left and any additional order information on the right. From this screen, you can:

    • Select the Generate PDF icon to create a PDF files containing the contents of the Order Confirmation screen.
    • Select the Close link to close the confirmation screen after viewing the order information.
    • Select the View Orders link to close the confirmation screen and display the Unsent Orders List. NOTE: The Status is Unsent when you initially save the DVP/RVP Trade Away Order to the Unsent Order List.
    • Select the Place Another Trade button to close the confirmation screen and display the order ticket.
  21. If you selected Send Now, the Order Confirmation screen displays. It contains a summary of the order on the left and any additional order information on the right. From this screen, you can:

    • Select the Generate PDF icon to create a PDF files containing the contents of the Order Confirmation screen.
    • Select the Close link to close the confirmation screen after viewing the order information.
    • Select the View Orders link to close the confirmation screen and display the Sent Orders List. NOTE: Please see the Sent DVP/RVP Trade Away Statuses section of the Sent Order List for possible conditions.
    • Select the Place Another Trade button to close the confirmation screen and display the order ticket.

DVP/RVP Trade Away Order Ticket Field Definitions

Field Definition
Account Type Used to specify the type of account associated with the order. NOTE: This field is set to Cash and cannot be changed.
Action Drop-down list used to specify the order action; options are Buy or Sell.
Client Confirm Note Designates the power of discretion for the order; selections are: None (Blank), Cross Trade, Client Requested Trade, or Advisor Directed. This information displays on the trade confirmation.
Commission Used in conjunction with the Commission Type field; indicates the commission per share of the security. This value must be greater than or equal to 0. NOTE: If you select No Commission in the Commission Type drop-down list, this field is removed from the ticket.
Commission Type Drop-down list used to specify the way in which commissions are calculated; options are Flat Fee or No Commission. NOTE: If you select No Commission, the Commission field is removed from the ticket.
DTC Used to specify the 4-digit Depository Trust Company (DTC) number associated with the executing broker.
Interest Amount Used to specify the dollar amount of interest applied to the order. This value must be greater than or equal to 0.
Net Amount Used to specify the total cost of the order. This value is equal to (Price Per Share + Commission) multiplied by the Quantity, plus the Interest Amount and any Other Charges. For Sell orders, the SEC Fee is subtracted from this value. NOTE: You may not enter a value in this field; this information is calculated by Fidelity.
Other Charges Used to specify any other charges associated with the order. NOTE: These charges refer to those charged by the executing broker.
Price Per Share Used to specify the price of a single share of the selected security, which must be greater than or equal to 0. NOTE: This field is required.
Quantity Used to specify the number of shares associated with the order.
Settlement Date Used to specify the date the trade is expected to settle. Either enter a date manually or specify one using the Calendar icon that displays to the right of the field.
Symbol/CUSIP Indicates the Symbol or CUSIP associated with the security specified for the order.
Trade Date Used to specify the date of the trade. Either enter a date manually or specify one using the Calendar icon that displays to the right of the field.
